Buderim is a luxuriant and delightful Sunshine
Coast inland town 92 km north of Brisbane. It sits
on Buderim Mountain, an extinct volcano and its name
is derived from the Aboriginal word meaning ‘hairpin
honeysuckle’ which flourished here. The Buderim
plateau which ranges from 152 -182 m above sea level
was first settled in 1870. A number of early
crops were grown however ginger has proven the most
successful. The town has a number of interesting
galleries, antique shops and cafés. Mooloolah River
NP (6 km s-e). Biennale is a festival of antiques,
music and art (Apr), Street Festival (Oct).
